5 Things To Do Tomorrow At Winterlude

Winterlude is officially here, and this weekend celebrates its start with some great activities in the Capital.

The 31st Crystal Garden International Ice-Carving Competition Awards Ceremony

What is Winterlude without its jaw-dropping line-up of ice sculptures from around the world? Watch as the world’s best ice-carvers create spectacular masterpieces during the 31st edition of the Crystal Garden International Ice-Carving Competition. This year’s theme is Winter Fun – Timeless Memories. The awards ceremony will be held at 5 PM at Confederation Park.

Friday, February 2, 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday, February 4, 8 a.m. to noon

Awards ceremony: Sunday, February 4, 5 p.m.


“Epic. Arctic. Sirmilik” Photography Exhibition Presented by Parks Canada

This retrospective photography exhibition of the Sirmilik National Park by Parks Canada Northern Outreach Students displays photographs taken in the Arctic during the summer of 2017.  They are displayed at Marion Dewar Plaza, Ottawa City Hall from 11 am to 5 pm on Sundays. On weekends, some of these students will be on hand to tell you about their adventures in the Canadian North.

The CBC/Radio-Canada Olympic Games Rendez Vous

The CBC/Radio-Canada tent is the best place to experience the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games  Olympics!The tent also features interactive olympic-inspired games, meet & greets and PyeongChang 2018 broadcasts.

Tim Burr! Circus Lumberjack

Tim Burr will be performing this weekend on the Brr Stage at Confederation Park. Catch one of his three daily shows to watch him take a whack at juggling running chainsaws, balancing axes on his face or performing a “graceful” log-rolling stunt high in the air, while juggling hatchets.

Saturday and Sunday, February 3 and 4, at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Winterlude Mascot Challenge

In this all-out competition, hosted by Winterlude’s Ice Hog Family (the official Mascots of Winterlude) professional sports mascots face off against the CECCE’s school mascots. They will have to successfully pass three tests along the track in order to go to the next round.
