The 2019 Ferguslea Properties Ltd Senators Soirée presented by Bell, the premier fundraising event of the Ottawa Senators Foundation, has raised $271,835 in support of children and youth on February 9th, 2019.

Monies raised will help the Ottawa Senators Foundation give children and youth the opportunity to attend summer camp, learn how to skate, play sports, and access support and treatment from world-class healthcare facilities, all as a result of the generosity of sponsors, guests and donors.

More than 650 guests, along with Senators players, members of the coaching staff and management, met Carissa, a patient in the new Senators Foundation funded Oncology Well Being program at CHEO. This novel program was initiated by families and born out of an identified need for mental health support. Clinical psychologists are available to provide assessments, consultations and counselling to children and youth currently in treatment as well as to cancer survivors who have to deal with lingering effects from their treatment.

“The first time Dan and I attended the Senators Soirée, we had a wonderful time getting to know the players and coaches off the ice. We’ve never missed a year since!” said Barbara Crook on behalf of her husband, Ferguslea Properties president Dan Greenberg. “We are especially proud to sponsor this event and support the great work of the Ottawa Senators Foundation. Together, we are making a difference for local children and youth.”

“The Ferguslea Properties Ltd Senators Soiree is a collection of community-focused organizations and people, including our players, who have come together to help us make a positive impact for children and youth,” said Danielle Robinson, president, and CEO, Ottawa Senators Foundation. “Thanks to their generosity and belief in our mission, kids like Carissa will always have someone to talk to when needed. We’re continuing to break barriers for thousands of other children, giving them an opportunity to access programs and services across the National Capital Region.”

One-of-a-kind experiential auction items were the theme of the evening highlighted by a one-of-a-kind helicopter tour featuring two Ottawa Senators players. Other items included a private dinner with the Senators alternate captains, a video game battle with two Senators players and an opportunity to be in the 2018-19 Senators team photo.
