Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa: A Look at Year One

One year ago, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa opened its doors with a promise: to bring world-class entertainment, hospitality, and gaming to the nation’s capital.

Twelve months later, that promise has become reality.

Since opening on July 3, 2025, Hard Rock Ottawa has established itself as one of the city’s most dynamic destinations, drawing headline performers, major sporting events, and thousands of visitors through its doors. What began as one of the largest privately funded developments in Ottawa’s history has evolved into something much bigger; a year-round hub for entertainment, tourism, and community engagement.

The opening itself set the tone. David Foster and Katharine McPhee christened the stage at Hard Rock Live, followed days later by Avril Lavigne. The momentum never slowed.

Over the following months, Hard Rock Live welcomed an impressive roster of artists and entertainers including Yungblud, Loverboy, Tom Cochrane, Matthew Good and I Mother Earth, Ron White, Chris Tucker, and many more. Together, they helped transform Ottawa’s newest venue into an established stop on the touring circuit.

The venue also became home to nationally significant moments. The 2025 PWHL Draft brought the future of professional women’s hockey to Ottawa, while a partnership with United Boxing Promotions introduced championship boxing to the capital. Two world-class fight cards headlined by Canadian champion Sara Bailey demonstrated the venue’s versatility and showcased Hard Rock’s ability to deliver entertainment beyond music.

Beyond the headline acts, Hard Rock Ottawa embraced the art of celebration. From the Halloween Spooktacular to Chinese New Year festivities and the glamour of the All That Glitters New Year’s Eve party, the property quickly became a gathering place for residents and visitors alike.

Today, guests experience the destination as it was originally envisioned. With Phase 2 now complete, the property has fully transitioned into a resort experience.

New additions include the opening of YouYu Noodle Bar, the introduction of an exclusive Baccarat Room, a secondary guest entrance, and additional memorabilia installations throughout the property. Combined with the hotel, gaming floor, Hard Rock Live, restaurants, bars, and lounges, the result is a fully integrated destination designed to keep guests engaged from day to night.

That commitment to excellence has not gone unnoticed. In its first year, Hard Rock Hotel Ottawa earned a coveted CAA Four Diamond Award, placing it among an elite group of hospitality destinations recognized for exceptional service and quality.

For Christine Crump, the recognition is gratifying, but the real reward has been watching Ottawa embrace what Hard Rock set out to build.

“When we opened our doors, we knew we were building something special,” says Crump. “What has been most rewarding is seeing the community embrace it and make it their own.”

That connection has been a defining theme of Hard Rock Ottawa’s first year. From sold-out concerts and championship boxing cards to community fundraisers and national sporting events, the property has quickly evolved beyond a casino or hotel into a gathering place for the city itself.

Crump, whose career spans more than 25 years in the gaming industry and seven major development projects across Ontario, says the success belongs as much to the people behind the operation as it does to the facility itself.

“Many of our band members had been waiting since 2017 for this project to become a reality,” she says. “To watch them walk through the finished space with pride and confidence has been incredibly rewarding.”

Of course, no Hard Rock experience would be complete without music at its core. Throughout the property, guests encounter pieces of music history woven into the guest experience, including artwork from John Lennon, Prince’s suit worn during his 2002 Ottawa visit, speaker cabinets from Rush’s Time Machine Tour, and Michael Bublé’s tuxedo worn during Season 26 of NBC’s The Voice. Together, they transform a walk through the resort into a journey through decades of iconic performances and cultural moments.

But perhaps the property’s greatest impact has been felt beyond its walls.

Hard Rock’s founding motto, Love All, Serve All, has translated into meaningful local action throughout its first year in Ottawa. The organization donated $100,000 to the Ottawa Food Bank, contributed $30,000 to Make-A-Wish Foundation, and raised $12,000 during Pinktober in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.

The property also supported community initiatives including the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Ontario, United Way Burger Battle, International Women’s Day programming, and Ride for Dad. Partnerships with the Ottawa Senators, Ottawa Bluesfest, CityFolk, and Algonquin College have further strengthened Hard Rock’s connection to the community.

Its economic impact has been equally significant. In 2025 alone, the property contributed more than $6.6 million to the City of Ottawa through casino revenues, helping support municipal programs, services, and infrastructure.

Now, attention turns to what’s next.

The momentum continues into 2026 with an already impressive lineup that includes Our Lady Peace, The Tea Party, Honeymoon Suite and The Headpins, Mt. Joy, Vengaboys and Prozzäk, Laura Ramoso, April Wine, and Colin James. More announcements are expected throughout the year, further establishing Hard Rock Live as a must-play venue for touring artists.

If 2025 was about laying the foundation, 2026 is about building on it.

Bigger acts. Broader audiences. Deeper community connections.

“Last year was about opening our doors and introducing Ottawa to Hard Rock,” says Crump. “Now we’re focused on growing that momentum, creating even more memorable experiences for our guests, and continuing to become part of the fabric of this community.”

One year after opening its doors, Hard Rock Ottawa has already reshaped the city’s entertainment landscape. The next chapter promises to be even louder.
