Canada Day in the Capital: What You Don’t Want To Miss

Canada is turning 152, and as always, the city will celebrate. There is so much to do in the Nation’s Capital on June 30th and July 1st, with events mainly taking place at 3 sites including Major’s Hill Park, Parliament Hill, and Canadian Museum of History.

Major’s Hill Park will transform into a community hub with creative and playful games, entertainment, music, interactive works of art, food, acrobatics and culture.

All of the museums will be open on Canada Day with activities for the whole family, including experiments, demonstrations, and special exhibits. The Museum of History will be free to all, highlighting the richness of Indigenous culture and languages from across Canada.

There is a great line up of artists on all afternoon and evening at all 3 sites. Highlights include: Tyler Shaw, Said The Whale, and Tokyo Police Club at Major’s Hill Park, and The Strumbellas, Brett Kissel, Crystal Shawanda, KAYTRANADA, and K’naan performing on Parliament Hill. Check out the full artist lineup here.

The celebrations conclude with the much anticipated Canada Day Pyromusical Fireworks launched from Nepean Point at 10pm. It is a 100% Canadian soundtrack and lasts 15 minutes. A few of the best viewing spots for the show are along the Ottawa River, at the central loop of Confederation Boulevard, or in Major’s Hill Park.
