James Cameron’s Deepsea Challenger Is On Display In Ottawa Until September 5th

Mark Thiessen/National Geographic

Although the world of deep sea exploration took mainstream media by storm in late June, it was June 5th, way before the disappearance of the Titan, that an exhibit dedicated to submersibles opened in Ottawa.

The Royal Canadian Geographic Society  in Ottawa invited people to explore James Cameron’s Deepsea Challenger on June 5th for their exhibit Pressure: James Cameron Into the Abyss in its Alex Trebek Theatre. The exhibit is still on and offers people a look inside the real Deepsea Challenger and other deep sea submersibles while discussing the broader responsibilities of ocean exploration and human’s impact on oceans at large.

James Cameron and his mentor Dr. Joe MacInnis opened the event in Ottawa, and the pair discussed deep sea exploration, the rise of AI, and everything in between at its launch.

The exhibit is free (registration is required), and is open every Tuesday – Saturday, 12 PM-5 PM, until September 5th.
