If you once laughed (and possibly cried) along to the classic 1993 film Mrs. Doubtfire, you’re in for a treat: the stage version of this beloved story rolls into Ottawa for its run at the National Arts Centre’s Southam Hall from Tuesday, November 4 to Sunday, November 9, 2025.

If you remember the 1993 film starring Robin Williams, then you’ll appreciate how this stage adaptation both honours the original and adds fresh, musical flair. In the story, out of work actor Daniel Hillard will go to just about any length to stay close to his children: cue disguise, identity hijinks, and the unforgettable character of Euphegenia Doubtfire.

Shows run nightly at 7:30 p.m., with additional 1:00 p.m. matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday, making it easy to find a time that suits your schedule. But don’t wait too long, with only a week long run and limited performances, tickets are expected to go fast.

If you’re looking for a theatre outing this fall that balances charm, laughs, emotion and quality production, this arrival of Mrs. Doubtfire at the NAC fits the bill.
