These Two Ottawa Festivals Were Named in Ontario’s Top 100

Ottawa doesn’t wait for long weekends to celebrate, it builds entire seasons around them. From music-filled summer nights downtown to family friendly performances in the spring, the city has a way of turning ordinary weekends into full-blown experiences. Now, that energy is getting province wide recognition.

Now it’s official. Ottawa has earned spots on the 2025 Top 100 Festivals & Events in Ontario list, curated by Festivals and Events Ontario (FEO), a recognition that celebrates the most outstanding and experience driven events across the province.

Two of the capital’s standouts made the cut this year: the Ottawa Children’s Festival and the Ottawa Jazz Festival.

The Ottawa Children’s Festival has long been a spring staple, transforming local parks and venues into colourful hubs of creativity. Think theatre performances under open skies, interactive storytelling, music, and dance designed to spark imagination. It’s the kind of event where families lay out picnic blankets, kids run from stage to stage, and the city feels lighter, playful, even.

Then there’s the Ottawa Jazz Festival, a summer tradition that turns Confederation Park and surrounding venues into a soundtrack for the season. What began as a jazz-focused celebration has evolved into a dynamic, genre blending event that welcomes international headliners and emerging talent alike. On warm June nights, downtown Ottawa hums with energy as music spills into the streets and patios fill with festival goers.

Being named among Ontario’s Top 100 isn’t just about attendance numbers. It recognizes production quality, community impact, cultural value, and the ability to draw visitors from beyond city limits.

And in a province packed with events, from food festivals to global music showcases,  Ottawa holding its place on that list says something important.

The capital isn’t just Canada’s political centre. It’s a city that knows how to celebrate.

With more than 100 festivals annually, this latest recognition simply confirms what locals feel every season: in Ottawa, there’s always something happening, and it’s worth showing up for.
