Do You Name Your Car? If So, We Can Guess Its Name

October 2nd is nationally observed as Name Your Car Day. Although an oddly specific ‘holiday’, some may be surprised to learn that over 56% of North Americans name their cars.

But, car owners aren’t totally creative when it comes to designating their 4-doors. According to a survey by Onepoll (on behalf of Toco Warranty), here are the most popular ways to name your car.

‘Old Red’ or Some Other Feature

Something specific to the car, like the sound it makes or the colour, is what 42% of car namers will opt for.

A Name From A Popular Movie

20% of people will use a popular movie car, like Herbie or General Lee, for their car name.

Famous People

The name of models, actors or actresses, and other famous people is a fitting name for 17% of car names.
