The Golf Industry Saw Record-Breaking Sales This Summer, Report Finds

Despite golf courses being closed in early spring, a new report shows that the golf industry was at an all-time high by mid to late summer.

The report, which was carried out by the American National Golf Foundation, found that golf courses were seeing an increase of about 20% more rounds compared to last year’s number for the same time period.

And it wasn’t just regulars who were hitting the fairways: new participants were contributing to the boosted numbers as well. The industry reported a 32% more golf equipment purchased this year over last year, a difference of millions in revenue.

Although coronavirus shutdowns affected the industry in the early spring, golf courses ultimately saw an increase as golf became one of few safe activities. It’s outside, with very little close interactions. Combined with a summer of good weather, its no wonder that many golfers, new and old, flocked to the golf course on their days off.
