Patio season is one of the best parts of summer in Ottawa, and if you’re looking for your next outdoor dining destination, one local restaurant has earned national recognition. Tucked away in Centretown, Arlo has once again been named one of Canada’s Top 100 Restaurants for Outdoor Dining, proving that some of the country’s best patio experiences can be found right here in the capital.

Released by OpenTable, the annual list highlights standout patios across Canada based on diner reviews and ratings. According to the reservation platform, nearly three-quarters of Canadians plan to dine outdoors at least once a month during the warmer months, making patios one of the most sought-after dining experiences of the season.

Located on Somerset Street West, Arlo has built a loyal following by combining exceptional food with an inviting neighbourhood atmosphere. The restaurant describes its cuisine as comforting and ingredient-driven, with an ever-changing menu that showcases seasonal Canadian ingredients alongside one of the city’s best selections of natural wines. Whether you’re stopping in for a leisurely dinner or sharing a bottle of wine with friends, the experience feels both refined and approachable.

What truly sets Arlo apart is its patio. Tucked just beyond the restaurant’s lively dining room, the outdoor space offers a relaxed, intimate setting that’s ideal for long summer evenings. Surrounded by greenery and removed from the bustle of the street, it’s the kind of patio that encourages guests to slow down, enjoy another course, and savour the moment. OpenTable described the atmosphere as “laid-back and cozy,” while praising the restaurant’s thoughtful menu and welcoming vibe.

The recognition adds to what has already been an impressive year for the restaurant. Earlier this spring, Arlo also earned a place on Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants list, further cementing its reputation as one of Ottawa’s premier dining destinations. While the restaurant moved to No. 77 on this year’s ranking after placing No. 50 in 2025, it remains one of only a handful of Ottawa establishments to receive national recognition.

Ottawa’s patio scene continues to grow each year, with neighbourhood restaurants creating inviting outdoor spaces that rival those found in much larger cities. Arlo’s latest honour is another reminder that the capital’s culinary scene is earning well-deserved attention on the national stage.

If you’re planning a patio outing this summer, this nationally recognized Centretown favourite deserves a spot at the top of your list.
