Richard Williams was the dedicated father figure behind the success of Serena and Venus Williams, and Will Smith will bring his story to life in an upcoming biopic, set to be released in theatres in late November.
The film follows the story of Richard Williams and his family as he fights for his daughters to rise from their low-income community through the ranks of the city’s, and the country’s, tennis leagues. Despite all of the adversity he faces, and sees for his daughters as they break barriers in tennis, he instills the fearlessness and confidence in Serena and Venus that they are famous for today.
