3 Ottawa run clubs doing it right

Ottawa’s run club scene is having a major moment right now. What was once simply a way to train for races has evolved into something much bigger: community, connection, wellness, and social culture all rolled into one. Across the city, run clubs are redefining what fitness looks like, proving you don’t need to be a marathoner to show up and be part of the movement.

Ottawa City Run Club, also known as OCRC, has become one of the city’s most recognizable running communities. Meeting every Tuesday evening at Beyond the Pale Brewery, the club blends running with social connection, making it just as much about the post-run atmosphere as the kilometres themselves. Founded in 2015, OCRC has built a loyal following through consistency, community, and an approachable “everyone welcome” mentality.

For runners looking for a more performance-driven atmosphere, The 25th Hour has quickly carved out its own lane in Ottawa’s fitness scene. Meeting Thursdays at Lansdowne Park, the endurance-focused club welcomes everyone from beginners to Ironman athletes while emphasizing resilience, discipline, and personal growth. Its branding, community energy, and strong social presence have helped turn weekly runs into a full lifestyle movement for Ottawa’s next generation of runners.

Then there’s Badass Lady Gang Ottawa, a club that continues to stand out for its commitment to inclusivity and accessibility. Founded in 2019, the women-focused running group has created a welcoming environment where all paces and abilities are encouraged to participate without pressure or intimidation. Weekly Monday meetups at Tunney’s Pasture include multiple route options and even walking groups, helping create a space where nobody gets left behind.

What makes Ottawa’s run club culture so strong right now is that it’s no longer just about running. These communities are becoming social hubs, wellness spaces, and support systems, bringing people together through movement in a way that feels authentic, low-pressure, and genuinely fun.
