After Nearly 100 Years, Greyhound Is Permanently Ending Bus Services in Canada

As of today, Greyhound will no longer operate any routes in Canada. The company, which has been a main operator across cities and rural areas alike across Canada, has been in business in Canada since 1929.

In 2018, the company ended its operations in Western communities, but have officially ceased operations across Canada as of May 14th.

While the company says it is ending operations due to a decrease in ridership, exacerbated by COVID19, many rural communities and commuters who rely on the service to get to larger cities, or as a low cost travel option, will be affected.

Canada’s transport minister, Omar Alghabra, took to twitter to address the closure directly.
