A summer of social distancing and uncertainties around social gatherings has presented experience-based businesses with a unique problem. One Ottawa-based business has found a unique solution for bringing their axe-throwing experience home.
Lumberjaxe Axe Throwing Hall in Ottawa’s city centre are only now beginning to open their doors to small group bookings. Previous to phase two re-openings, they were completely closed.
In response to this challenge, Owner Kerry Moher created at-home kits that would bring the fun of axe throwing right to your backyard. These kits, which are available for curb-side pickup and delivery/setup, contain everything needed for a fun and safe afternoon with friends.
At Lumberjaxe, trained instructors walk groups through the basics of axe-throwing and help rookies in their first few competitions. Moher wanted to make sure that the at-home axe thrower was able to experience the same kind of personalized coaching, so he’s compiled a series of instructional videos that guide first-time throwers through the entire experience, including set up.
The kits were a smash success in May when they first offered them; Lumberjaxe sold out of all of their first production of kits.
And it seems like they weren’t alone; the at-home axe throwing trend seemed to gain a lot of traction across Canada and the US. Even pro-athletes were getting in on the axe-tion, including Patriots defensive end Chase Winovich.
Lumberjaxe is selling Axe Kits throughout the summer, available for curbside pickup or delivery with setup included.
