With the weather feeling like summer, it can be hard to get into the mood for fall. Here are five local activities that are just what you need to get into the spirit of the season.

Shop at a Farmer’s Market


Lansdowne, Hintonburg and Almonte are just three examples of Farmer’s Markets that will be stocking up on everything from apples to pumpkins to gourds now that September has moved in. Shop the local ‘harvest’ and experience what’s in season.

Go Apple Picking at Log Cabin Orchard

 

Located 20 minutes south of Ottawa, this beautiful cabin is surrounded by an apple orchard and a pumpkin patch. Take some pictures, indulge in some goodies and maybe take a wagon ride.




Explore Saunders Farm

 

From September 22nd to October 31st, Saunders farm will be open to the public. Spend a day in their corn mazes, picking pumpkins and hayrides to get into the fall spirit.

Celebrate at Oktoberfest

 

From September 27th to September 30th, look for the giant 15,00 sq. ft. tent located in Barrhaven at Clarke fields for the Fall Harvest Entertainment Festival. This Oktoberfest will feature tons of local acts, entertainment, games, biers and much more.

 



Visit Pumpkinferno

Take a walk through an outdoor exhibit of around 7000 hand -carved pumpkins in Upper Canada Village’s 1860s backdrop. The artistry and glow from these pumpkins is sure to amaze you.
