In a field often defined by fleeting trends, CPI Interiors has spent the past 27 years building a reputation for something far more lasting: trust, personalization, and functional beauty.
Founded in 1998, Ottawa’s CPI Interiors has become synonymous with full-service home transformations, guiding clients from initial inspiration to the final reveal. In 2023, long-standing team members Natalie Cox and Megan Paterson purchased CPI Interiors from its founders. Today, CPI is thriving under their leadership with a clear focus: to make every space feel like home, and every client feel seen.
CPI Interiors offers full service interior decorating and renovation services, from single room makeovers to whole home renovations. Their goal is to make the design experience seamless and fulfilling— so clients can focus on the enjoyable aspects of the design process. With a team of more than a dozen women, the company manages every detail across design, trades, ordering, and logistics. CPI selects materials and curates high-quality furnishings, all based on in-depth conversations to understand their client’s needs. As a full-service firm, CPI simplifies the experience for homeowners, acting as a single point of contact throughout each project. Clients don’t have to shop, coordinate vendors, or juggle timelines. Every step is guided, every choice intentional.
“We believe good design should support how you live every day,” says Megan Patterson. Originally from St. Catharines, Megan joined CPI in 2015 after relocating to Ottawa with her husband. A graduate of Fanshawe College’s Interior Design program, Megan has worn many hats in the company—from AutoCAD Specialist to Studio Lead. Her unexpected love for the business side of design made her a natural fit for the CEO role.
President Natalie Cox shares a similarly grounded origin story. “I was born in Pembroke but grew up in Ottawa. I started my career in graphic design but felt the pull toward something more personal,” she says. That pull led her to CPI, where she joined as an independent design consultant in 2014. After honing her skills in design and project delivery, Natalie helped implement strategies that grew her client base and deepened her role in the firm. When the opportunity arose to purchase CPI in 2023, she didn’t hesitate—but knew that she wanted a partner. “I immediately thought of Megan,” she says. “Our skills complement each other perfectly.”
That partnership now anchors the company’s direction. Together, Natalie and Megan have refined CPI’s client experience into a structured, thoughtful process. Every project begins with a phone call and ends with a white-glove installation. After the initial phone call, a carefully curated process begins: an in-home consultation to define the client’s goals, budget and ideal use of space; then a flat-rate design process, complete with drawings, samples, renderings, and pricing. From there, CPI manages everything from coordinating trades to warehousing furnishings until installation day, when the full space is delivered and installed in one seamless reveal.
At the heart of CPI’s process are three core values: personalization, functionality, and trust. “We start by asking clients how they want their home to feel,” says Natalie. “We design for their lifestyle, not for a trend.” Functionality comes next, with layouts drawn before décor is even considered. And trust? That’s earned through clear communication and a commitment to only recommending what’s truly needed.
Being a women-owned business with an all-female team has also shaped CPI’s culture.
“It’s a collaborative, supportive environment,” Megan explains. “Everyone brings something unique, and we’re always learning from one another.”
That team-first ethos extends to the Ottawa community. CPI regularly donates to organizations like Restore and Helping with Furniture, and participates in initiatives like Pyjama Patrol, collecting essentials for families during the holidays. “These organizations do important work, and we’re proud to support them.” Natalie says.
Looking ahead, the pair is focused on growing the company while continuing to provide exceptional service. “We want to stay personal,” says Megan. “No matter how big we get, every client should feel like our only client.”
Their advice for anyone starting a home redesign? Start with how you want the space to function. And when choosing a firm? “Work with people who really listen,” says Natalie. “A great design team helps you uncover your unique style.”
CPI Interiors continues to redefine what personalized design can look like—one thoughtfully curated space at a time.
