The Clean & Mean Meal Plan

Meal Prep Ottawa’s Clean & Mean Meal Plan is built around exactly what its name implies, a lifestyle of clean eating. Our clean & mean meal plan is not focused on any particular diet like Ketogenic or Vegetarian, but instead just excludes generally unhealthy elements like high sodium content, MSG, and minimizing Saturated Fats.

For those of us who do not follow any particular diet, the Clean & Mean Meal Plan is one of the more exciting plans we offer because it is less restrictive. Most food types are allowed, including complex carbohydrates and a wider variety of sauces. For those of us that have not focused on our diet and nutrition for a long time, and are significantly overweight, the Clean & Mean Meal Plan is a great place to start your meal prep journey.

Highlights of the Clean & Mean Meal Plan

  • Free from dairy, gluten and low in sodium.
  • Everything we produce is low fat, low salt and low calorie but very high in nutritional value.
  • Our chef’s cook from scratch and let the ingredients speak for themselves. Absolutely no artificial flavoring.
  • Meal Prep Ottawa is the ultimate fusion cuisine, offering dishes utilizing Italian, French, Asian, Mexican, Mediterranean and North American cuisines to name a few.
  • Meals are very similar to a casual restaurant’s meals.

In a standard diet, carbohydrates cause your body to produce glucose, which serves as the body’s primary energy source. This allows fats to be stored, as they are not needed.

The Keto diet intentionally starves the body of carbs in order to induce ketosis, which is a natural process the body undergoes when deprived of foods. But rather than starving the body of food or calories, the Keto diet starves it of carbs and overloads it with fats to trigger the desired metabolic state.

Keto has been shown to be very effective in weight loss, and has also been linked to physical and mental performance benefits.

Benefits of following the “Keto” lifestyle are the following:

    1. Stimulate weight loss (great for weight loss challenges)
    2. Heart Health
    3. Brain Function
    4. Boost of Energy
    5. Boost to your metabolism

The Paleo Meal Plan

The paleo diet, sometimes referred to as “the caveman diet,” is based on the principle that eating foods that were available to early humans will promote optimal health.

One of the fundamental theories behind the paleo diet is that modern food systems, production and processing techniques are damaging to human health.

Thus, if you adjust your eating style to mimic that of Paleolithic hunter-gatherers, you will better support your body’s natural biological function, improving digestion and health.

Paleo eliminates grains, legumes, soy, processed sugar and most sources of dairy.

The main foods permitted on the paleo diet include:

  • Meat and fish
  • Eggs
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Fruits
  • Vegetables — except corn, which is a grain
  • Selected fats and oils, such as coconut oil, olive oil, avocado oil, lard, tallow
  • Minimally processed sweeteners, including raw honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar, raw stevia

The Vegan Meal Plan

Meal Prep Ottawa’s Vegan Meal plan is designed for those of us who have chosen to live a vegan lifestyle. Going vegan is arguably one of the most ethical diets and is great for the planet and your health. For those of you who are new to the vegan diet, it centers around eating whole foods, with a wide variety of vegetables and grains, and when done in a healthy way minimizes processed foods. Vegan also excludes any foods that may have been derived from animal products like dairy, or eggs. In addition to these general guidelines, the vegan diet tends to be very high in nutritional value and lower calories than most restaurants and even other meal plans Meal Prep Ottawa offers. We also exclude generally unhealthy elements like high sodium content, MSG, minimizing Saturated Fats like Omega 6.

We generally recommend our vegan meal delivery service to customers either already eating vegan, or customers looking to make a significant change to their lifestyle in order to benefit the planet, animals and their own health. Recent studies have shown that athletes can build just as much muscle on the vegan diet when macro-nutrient and calorie balanced, and eating a whole foods plant based diet can be one of the most effective ways to lose weight quickly.

If you have tried to cook vegan or have done meal prep yourself before and find yourself eating the same old meals day after day, Meal Prep Ottawa has a solution: Vegan Meal Plan.
